I have never felt so good about my French as I did today, calling my Swiss credit card company. After a deeply alarming (but apparently totally routine) encounter with the Japanese police, with whom I am totally unable to communicate, conducting basic transactions in French feels like a superpower. . Rewarding myself with an aimless trip to Hachioji for coffee and these Starbucks Sakura milk puddings, to which I am already addicted. . #amreading #tokyo #travel #weekendreading

29.3.19, Machida: In an astonishing reversal of the usual order of things, Starbucks Japan have MORE gluten-free snacks than Starbucks in Europe. Granted that’s two items, but I was so glad to find them I inhaled my Sakura Milk Pudding before my latte was even ready.

The downside of my brain’s stubborn refusal to learn Starbucks size words left me comically flailing. It’s TALL VANILLA LATTE literally everywhere on the globe, self (although here apparently you need to specify hottu latte). ‘Petit’ will NOT help you in Japan! It only worked about 50% of the time in Switzerland, Starbucks are that precious. https://ift.tt/2U7pS1N
