sleep alone in the woods
on a bed of rustling leaves
where no quiet lies –
you: displaced animal
with animal needs,
tiredness a blanket
full of holes.

one brief break in the cloud cover
and the moon tears into the tent
like a searching torch.
walk to the edge of the trees
a shadow upright among shadows:
luminescent daisies and the blue
hoot of the owl are gaps for you
to fall into.

in the morning you won’t

Great things about being back in Switzerland: I’m reunited with this well-beloved book. It really helped me cope with my straightened budget last time I moved here (foods I think of as cheap from Aus are not cheap in Europe), and although I’m not as squeezed this time, it’s still my go-to cookbook for all occasions. Not a #glutenfree cookbook but one I rarely struggle to use/adapt, which is also great. . #cooking #glutenfreelife #cookbook #comfortfood
