DNF, with prejudice: there’s a lot of complex things that could be said about the marriage-industrial complex, or toxic monogamy, or heteronormative love scripts. Unfortunately this book is so fixated on the norm it has nothing insightful to say ABOUT the norm. So people cheat on their spouses? So what, give me something critical to work with here! . This was a #theunreadshelfproject2019 (indeed a carry over from 2018) effort, and it should’ve stayed unread!
